On the 5th of January, The initial Express Entry draw is held by the IRCC. Through the Provincial Nominee Program, 392 people have been invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada. The CRS score is 808 but it is only 202 since PNP nominated candidates to receive 600 bonus points.

Canada has been admitting PNP candidates since September. For the first time in Express Entry's history, no candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) were requested to apply. This is due to a backlog of applications at the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Before accepting candidates for other immigration programs such as CEC (Canada Experience Class) and FSWP, it has been stated that at least half of the backlog would be cleared (Federal Skilled Worker Program).

The Comprehensive Ranking System is a points-based system used by IRRC to rank candidates in the pool (CRS). It chooses the top performers from the pool and asks them to seek permanent residency.

In 2021, Canada's immigration-friendly policies will be implemented.

First and foremost, given the Canadian government's and IRCC's actions, the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program draws appear to be coming soon. Second, beginning on August 9, 2021, Canada will allow non-essential travel to its nine airports from the United States and the rest of the world (only for fully vaccinated travelers). Candidates with a COPR (certificate of permanent residency) are already eligible to travel to Canada as of June 21, 2021.

IRCC has also taken other measures.

To summarise, IRCC took and adjusted all necessary actions last year in order to meet this year's immigration quota target. For instance, here are some of the steps that have demonstrated it:

  • Beginning August 9, fully vaccinated Canadian children and other exempt travelers will be subject to an amended quarantine.
  • A new open work permit for temporary workers or overseas grads who are awaiting the outcome of their PR applications (pathway to permanent residence)
  • There are nine airports that accept international flights.
  • From June 21, 2021, candidates for permanent residence programs with approved PR status were authorized to travel to Canada.
  • Tourists from all nations who are fully vaccinated may arrive on September 7th.
  • Beginning August 9, fully vaccinated US travelers will be allowed to enter Canada.
  • The hotel quarantine policy was lifted on August 9th.
