Apart from the other changes, tourists will still be unable to stay in the UK for longer than six months. While in the United Kingdom, visitors will still be unable to work.

How much is it going to cost you?

The cost of submitting an application for a visit visa to the United Kingdom varies. The UKBA has set aside the following non-refundable visa application fees:

£95   --  for six months 

£361 --  two-year period  

£655 --  for five years 

£822 --  for 10 years.

Who is eligible for a visit visa?

1- An organ donor visa for visitors

You must show that the individual to whom you're donating an organ is legally permitted to be in the United Kingdom. You can only come to the UK to donate organs to the following organizations:

• A genetically related family member (for example, a sister or parent) 

• Someone with whom you have a close personal relationship (for example your spouse or friend)

2- Medical treatment visa for visitors

You must demonstrate that you can:

• have made arrangements for consultations or treatment

• have enough money or funding to pay for your treatment 

• have a medical condition that requires private consultation or treatment in the UK 

• will leave the UK once your treatment is completed, or when your visa expires 

3- A visitor's visa for up to 6 months of study

Before applying to perform research or a placement in the UK, you must be enrolled in a course that is comparable to a UK degree. One of the following must be demonstrated:

• You are at least 16 years old and are participating in an 'elective' (an optional additional placement) as part of an overseas medicine, veterinary medicine, science, or dentistry course

4- Academic visa as a visitor

If you're applying as an academic, you can stay in the UK for up to 12 months. You must demonstrate that you are:

• Highly qualified in your field of knowledge, for example, you have a Ph.D

• Visiting for a formal exchange or to conduct research 

• Currently working in that field of expertise at an academic institution overseas
